Man or Monkey?

Image
Man was a monkey, a wild animal and a member of the animal kingdom. Atleast,  According to Darwin's theory of natural selection. When man was a monkey, the biosphere thrived because nature took care of its itself. Everything went on naturally. Grass was eaten, prey killed, population in check. Everyone  lived together in such a way that power was equally distributed. Greed did not exist. Only the necessary amount of killing or eating was done.  Then man developed language. He went and developed this attitude that made him the first priority. Animals are no longer co-habitants or equals, but second priority or servants. If man is hungry, the animals die. If man is thirsty, their rivers are dammed.  So. Wouldn't it just be nice to go back to this form of living? A living free of global warming and pollution and deforestation and improper land use. Instead , let nature take the wheel. It can sort out stuff. Get in touch with our inner animal and simply survive.  La...

The Gift of Language

Image
I had often heard from people about how language is the greatest boon of mankind. It did not make any sense to me. How can Hindi or English or Slovakian be the 'greatest boon'? What about kindness and science and all that stuff?  Then, I saw something that helped me understand. Here it is :_  The History of the World in 18 minutes This helped me so much. I highly recommend you watch this. Whatever your age or gender. It is NOT boring.  What I learnt was why humans are the intelligent species. I mean, at the end of the day, we are all just monkeys. Then, why is it that only humans are capable of building infrastructure or scientifically explaining things? Well, All members of the animal kingdom learn about their surroundings. Even mice. But, humans could share this accumulated knowledge with others. So, that way observations of the past helped us advance in the future. It  is like having thousands of books that help you write your own. But how? Language! Languag...

Thoughts: Me

Sometimes when I have a lot of time to think, I feel heavy.  I always need clarity. I summarise my thoughts into one dramatic statement.  The latest one is 'What am I ?' So vague.  What I mean is what kind of person am I . Like my humour  or my behaviour or my postion. Am I the chilled one? The spunky one? The funny one? The emotional one?  Everyone seems to have a fixed role. I don't know what mine is. I feel lost sometimes.  What makes ME me? What is the Anjali quality? I CAN be everything but then where am I ? What comes naturally?  I haven't expressed it well. I don't know if anyone else ever felt that way . LOST.  Hmm...Is it a pointless thought?
